Entry is a privilege.
Safety is non-negotiable.

Summit or Surrender races are conducted in environments where altitude-related illness, weather volatility, and isolation present real and immediate risk to life.

Entry is therefore restricted. Meeting the criteria does not guarantee acceptance. Approval rests solely with the Race Director.

General Eligibility

Minimum age: 21 years
Proven endurance running background
Prior exposure to high-altitude environments
Ability to make sound decisions under fatigue

Altitude Experience Requirements

Applicants must demonstrate prior performance and experience in high-altitude conditions.

Completion of at least one race above 3,500 meters
Preference given to experience above 4,000 meters
Documented acclimatization history
No history of severe altitude sickness

Medical Clearance

Recent medical examination by a qualified physician
Clearance for extreme altitude endurance activity
Disclosure of previous altitude-related illness
Agreement to medical withdrawal if required

Medical authority on course supersedes all personal ambition.

Mental & Ethical Readiness

Acceptance that DNF is a valid outcome
Respect for race officials and local environment
Willingness to surrender when instructed
No argument or appeal against safety decisions

Automatic Disqualification Factors

Providing false or misleading information
Ignoring medical or race director instructions
Inadequate altitude preparation
Unsafe conduct toward self or others
